The 2026 Hokkaido Training Sale has catalogued 78 juveniles, making it the smallest edition in its history. As in the past two years, both the breeze-up and the sale will take place on the same day.
Ahead of the breeze-up sale on May 19th, rehearsal breeze-ups were held in early April at BTC Urakawa and the Hokkaido Hidaka Race Horse Cooperative Upbringing Center.
At BTC Urakawa, a filly by Orfevre (JPN) recorded the fastest furlong time of 10.2 seconds. Catalogued as Lot 52, she is out of four-time NAR winner Fastoso (JPN), whose half-sister is the black-type winner Missing Link (JPN).
Lots 16 and 19 were the only other horses to break 11.0 seconds on the day. Lot 16, a filly by Benbatl (GB), recorded a furlong time of 10.7 seconds. She is the first foal out of Suzu Cynara (JPN), whose dam is the Group 3-placed Dear Arethusa (JPN). Lot 19, a colt by Mischevious Alex (USA) out of JRA winner Kirara Amore (JPN), clocked 10.9 seconds for a furlong.
At the Hokkaido Hidaka Race Horse Cooperative Upbringing Center, two juveniles from the same vendor, N & star LLC, shared the fastest furlong time of 11.1 seconds: Lot 7, a colt by Makfi (GB), and Lot 69, a colt by Kiseki (JPN). The Kiseki colt is a half-brother to two-time JRA winner Win Spirytus (JPN).
The sale will take place at Sapporo Racecourse on Tuesday, May 19, at 1:00 pm, following the breeze-up session, which begins at 9:30 am.
