2025 Hokkaido Autumn Sale Review

The 2025 Hokkaido Autumn Sale catalogued 455 yearlings and the two-day sale kicked off on Monday, October 13th at the Hokkaido Sales Complex.

Overall, 304 yearlings grossed a total of ¥1,031,360,000 (US$6,875,733) with an average of ¥3,392,632 (US$22,618) and a median of ¥3,025,000 (US$20,167). The average price was down 15.21% and the median was also down 14.06% from 2024. The clearance rate for the sale was 71.87%, it was down 11.02 points from last year.

The highest price of the sale was Lot 266, a Rulership (JPN) colt out of Sanguinea (JPN), sold to Takashi Kurisaka for ¥13,750,000 (US$ 91,667). His dam is a half-sister to Group 1 winner, Rose Kingdom (JPN).

Chestnut Farm sold 13 yearlings including the top lot for a total of ¥54,780,000 (US$365,200). They were the runner-up for the leading consignor of the sale by gross.

Craic Stable sold 21 yearlings for a total of ¥77,660,000 (US$517,733) and defended the leading consignor title of the sale. They successfully sold Lot 128, a Moanin (USA) colt out of Happy Jugend (JPN) for ¥10,450,000 (US$69,667) and he was the second highest priced colt in the sale.

Moanin (USA) claimed the leading sire title after 11 of his yearlings sold for a total of ¥52,470,000 (US$349,800).

Jun Fukumoto spent ¥23,980,000 (US$159,867) for three yearlings and claimed the leading buyer title of the sale.

The 2025 yearling sales in Japan have concluded. The Hokkaido Sale has sold 2,118 yearlings across their four yearling sales this year.
