2025 Hokkaido Autumn Sale Preview

07 October, 2025

The Hokkaido Autumn Sale has 455 yearlings catalogued for this year's edition. Among them, 187 are being offered for the first time, while 268 were either not sold or withdrawn from previous yearling sales. The two-day sale will commence on Monday, October 13.

Yushun Stallion Station's Moanin (USA) leads the roster with 14 yearlings, followed by Darley Japan's American Patriot (USA) with 13. Al Ain (JPN) has 12 yearlings, while Noble Mission (GB) and Talismanic (GB) each have 10. These five sires are the only ones offering double-digit entries in this year's Hokkaido Autumn Sale.

Suave Richard (JPN) is the highest-priced sire among those represented at the sale. Standing at ¥15,000,000 (US$100,000) at Shadai Stallion Station, he has only one yearling catalogued -- Lot 141, a filly out of the Lord Kanaloa (JPN) mare Demmi (JPN). Demmi was a JRA-placed mare, and the filly's third dam, Wind in Her Hair (IRE), is the dam of the legendary Japanese Champion Deep Impact (JPN).

Among consignors, Max Training Farm leads with 30 yearlings, followed by Crack Stable with 28, Mombetsu Bokujo Co., Ltd. with 25, and the Hokkaido Hidaka Race Horse Cooperative Upbringing Center with 22. These four consignors are each offering more than 20 yearlings in the sale.

The average price at the Hokkaido Autumn Sale has increased for the past five consecutive years, reflecting steady growth in the Japanese yearling market. The final yearling sale of 2025 in Japan will take place at the Hokkaido Sales Complex, beginning on October 13.
