The Hokkaido September Sale has catalogued 586 yearlings for this year's edition. First launched in 2019, this will be the seventh running of the sale. The three-day auction will commence on Monday, September 15th, and continue through Wednesday, September 17th. The final 30 lots in the catalogue are yearlings that were either withdrawn or went unsold at the Hokkaido Selection Sale, the premier yearling sale held this July.
American-bred American Patriot (USA), standing at Darley Japan, has the largest representation in the catalogue with 16 yearlings set to go under the hammer. Shanghai Bobby (USA) and Isla Bonita (JPN) follow, each with 13 yearlings catalogued. One of Japan's most expensive sires, Kizuna (JPN), will be represented by a single yearling-Lot 567, a filly out of the Harbinger (GB) mare Intelligence (JPN).
Chuwa Wizard (JPN) will offer 12 of his first yearlings, while Darley Japan's Will Take Charge (USA), whose first full crop in Japan is selling this year, also has 12 catalogued.
Among consignors, Chestnut Farm leads the way with 27 yearlings, followed by Ever Green Sales Consignment with 24. Two others will each offer more than 20: Monbetsu Bokujo and Hidaka Ikusei Kosha have 23 and 21 yearlings respectively.
Last year, the Hokkaido September Sale achieved a clearance rate above 80% for the first time in its history. The 2025 edition will be held at the Hokkaido Sales Complex from September 15th to 17th.
