September JRA Graded Stakes Review

In the 1800m G3 Sapporo Nisai Stakes at Sapporo Racecourse on September 2nd, two-year-olds competed in just the third graded stakes race of their brief careers. Set Up(JPN) by Declaration of War(USA) wired the event, earning him his first graded stakes victory. Power Hall(JPN) by Suave Richard(JPN) was four lengths back in second, and Gamble Room(JPN) by Kizuna(JPN) was another three and a half lengths back in third.

In the 2000m G3 Niigata Kinen at Niigata Racecourse on September 3rd, Nocking Point(JPN) by Maurice(JPN) got up to earn his first grade stakes win. You Can Smile(JPN) by King Kamehameha(JPN) was a length back in second. Impress(JPN) by Kizuna(JPN) was a neck back in third.

In the 1200m G3 Kokura Nisai Stakes at Kokura Racecourse on September 3rd, two-year-olds competed in the fourth graded stakes race available to them. Ask One Time(JPN) by Lord Kanaloa(JPN) got his head in front to earn his first graded stakes win. Miltenberg(JPN) by Maurice(JPN) had to settle for second. Can See Angel(JPN) by Bago(FR) was a length and a half in third.

In the 2000m G2 Shion Stakes at Nakayama Racecourse on September 9th, 17 fillies competed for an automatic berth into the G1 Shuka Sho in October. Moryana(JPN) by Epiphaneia(JPN) came up from the back of the pack to snatch her first graded stakes win. Hip Hop Soul(JPN) by Kitasan Black(JPN) was half a length back in second. Shirankedo(JPN) by Declaration of War(USA) was a length and a quarter further back in third.

In the 1600m G3 Keisei Hai Autumn Handicap at Nakayama Racecourse on September 10th, Soul Rush(JPN) by Rulership(JPN) got his neck in front to earn his second graded stakes title. Win Greatest(JPN) by Screen Hero(JPN) had to settle for second. Miss New York(JPN) by King's Best(USA) was half a length back in third.

In the 1200m G2 Centaur Stakes at Hanshin Racecourse on September 10th, T M Spada(JPN) by Red Spada(JPN) went wire to wire to earn her second graded stakes win. Aguri(JPN) by Caravaggio(USA) was a length back in second. Smart Courage(JPN) by Deep Impact(JPN) was another three-quarter back in third.

In the 1800m G2 Rose Stakes at Hanshin Racecourse on September 17th, 17 fillies dueled for a spot in the G1 Shuka Sho in October. Masked Diva(JPN) by Rulership(JPN) came up from the mid-pack to solidly win her first graded stakes race. Brede Weg(JPN) by Lord Kanaloa(JPN) finished a length and a half behind in second. Malaki Naia(JPN) by Just a Way(JPN) was another length and three-quarters back in third.

In the 2200m G2 St. Lite Kinen at Nakayama Racecourse on September 18th, 15 colts tried to earn a chance to compete in the G1 Kikuka Sho in October. Lebensstil(JPN) by Real Steel(JPN) came up from mid-pack to comfortably win his first graded stake title. Sol Oriens(JPN) by Kitasan Black(JPN), also runner-up in the G1 Japanese Derby, had to settle for second again, by a length and three quarters this time. Shazzan(JPN) by Lord Kanaloa(JPN) was another length and a quarter back in third.

In the 2200m G2 All Comers at Nakayama Racecourse on September 24th, Rousham Park(JPN) by Harbinger(GB) earned his second graded stakes victory over several G1 winners. Coming off a long layoff, Titleholder(JPN) by Duramente(JPN) set the pace and finished second by a length and a quarter. Zeffiro(JPN) by Deep Impact(JPN) was a neck back in third.

In the 2400m G2 Kobe Shimbun Hai at Hanshin Racecourse on September 24th, 13 colts competed to earn berth into the G1 Kikuka Sho in October. Satono Glanz(JPN) by Satono Diamond(JPN) came up from mid-pack to get his head in front for his second graded stakes title. Savona(JPN) by Kizuna(JPN) had to settle for second. Phantom Thief(JPN) by Harbinger(GB) was another half a length back in third.

In the 2000m G3 Sirius Stakes on dirt at Hanshin Racecourse on September 30th, Hagino Alegrias(JPN) by Kizuna(JPN) came from off the pace to take a solid lead before capturing his first graded stakes win. Icon Tailor(JPN) by Duramente(JPN) was a length and a quarter back in second. Vanyar(JPN) by Turtle Bowl(IRE) was a further three and a half lengths back in third.
