March JRA Graded Stakes Review

In the 1200m G3 Ocean Stakes at Nakayama Racecourse on March 4th, second favorite Vento Voce(JPN) by Turtle Bowl(IRE) earned his second graded stakes victory. Divination(JPN) by Victoire Pisa(JPN) was two lengths back in second. A Shin Spotter(JPN) by A Shin Hikari (JPN) came from near the back of the pack to finish another half a length back in third.

The 1600m G2 Tulip Sho at Hanshin Racecourse on March 4th is an Oka Sho (Japanese 1000 Guineas) trial race. Mozu Meimei(JPN) by Real Impact(JPN) went wire to wire to earn her first graded stakes race. Kona Coast(JPN) by Kitasan Black(JPN) was a nose back in second. Perifania(JPN) by Maurice(JPN) was a further neck back in third.

The 2000m G2 Yayoi Sho at Nakayama Racecourse on March 5th is a Satsuki Sho(Japanese 2000 Guineas) trial race. Tastiera(JPN) by Satono Crown(JPN) stalked the pace throughout before kicking home to earn his first graded stake title. This was also the first graded stakes win for the young sire. Top Knife(JPN) by Declaration of War(USA) was a length back in second. One Direct(JPN) by Harbinger(GB) was another neck back in third.

In the 1800m G3 Nakayama Himba Stakes at Nakayama Racecourse on March 11th, second favorite Through Seven Seas(JPN) by Dream Journey(JPN) earned her first graded stakes win of her career. Storia(JPN) by Leontes(JPN) was second by a length and a quarter. Satono Cecil(GB) by Frankel(GB) was a length and a half back in third.

In the 2000m G2 Kinko Sho at Chukyo Racecourse on March 12th, favorite Prognosis(JPN) by Deep Impact(JPN) rewarded his backers by getting up for his first graded stakes win. Feengrotten(JPN) by Black Tide(JPN) had to settle three-quarters of a length back in second after setting the pace. Arata(JPN) by King Kamehameha(JPN) was a length and a quarter back in third.

The 1400m G2 Fillies' Revue at Hanshin Racecourse on March 12th is an Oka Sho(Japanese 1000 Guineas) trial race. Second favorite, Sing That Song(JPN) by Duramente(JPN), earned her first graded stakes win. Moon Probe(JPN) by Maurice(JPN) was a neck back in second. June Orange(JPN) by Just a Way(JPN) was another neck back in third.

In the 1800m G3 Flower Cup at Nakayama Racecourse on March 18th, second favorite Emu(JPN) by Harbinger(GB) navigated her way from the back of the pack to earn her first graded stakes victory. Hip Hop Soul(JPN) by Kitasan Black(JPN) was half a length back in second. Pulchritude(JPN) by Gun Runner(USA) was another length and a quarter back in third.

In the 1400m G3 Falcon Stakes at Chukyo Racecourse on March 18th, Tamamo Black Tie(JPN) by Declaration of War(USA) posted a decent upset when he got his nose in front of the favorite to earn his first graded stakes title. Carro Veloce(JPN) by Silver State(JPN) had to settle for second place. Thousand Sunny(JPN) by Talismanic(GB) was another three lengths back in third.

The 1800m G2 Spring Stakes at Nakayama Racecourse on March 19th is a Satsuki Sho (Japanese 2000 Guineas) trial race. Second favorite, Bellagio Opera(JPN) by Lord Kanaloa(JPN), earned his first graded stakes win. Ho O Biscuits(JPN) by Mind Your Biscuits(USA) was a length and a quarter back in second. Metal Speed(JPN) by Silver State(JPN) was another three-quarters of a length back in third.

In the 3000m G2 Hanshin Daishoten at Hanshin Racecourse on March 19th, royally bred Justin Palace(JPN) by Deep Impact(JPN) stormed home to win his second graded stakes victory. Boldog Hos(JPN) by Screen Hero(JPN) was a length and three quarters back in second. Breakup(JPN) by Novellist(IRE) was a further neck back in third.

In the 2500m G2 Nikkei Sho at Nakayama Racecourse on March 25th, champion Titleholder(JPN) by Duramente(JPN) returned to the winners' circle after having briefly lost his form after his trip to France. He powered away from his competition to win by a breathtaking eight lengths. Boccherini(JPN) by King Kamehameha(JPN) was back in second, while Diastima(JPN) by Deep Impact(JPN) was a further three-quarters of a length back in third.

In the 1800m G3 Mainichi Hai at Hanshin Racecourse on March 25th, fifth favorite Season Rich(JPN) by Duramente(JPN) posted an upset when he worked his way up to earn his first graded stakes win. Nocking Point(JPN) by Maurice(JPN) was half a length back in second. Dotto Kuru(JPN) by Dee Majesty(JPN) was another half a length back in third.

In the 1800m G3 March Stakes on dirt at Nakayama Racecourse on March 26th, Hayabusa Nandekun(JPN) by Gold Allure(JPN) posted a slight upset after stalking the pace and getting his nose in front for his first graded stakes win. William Barows(JPN) by Mikki Isle(JPN) had to settle for second place. Kitano Vision(JPN) by Meisho Bowler(JPN) was a further length back in third.

In the 1200m G1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen at Chukyo Racecourse on March 26th, twelfth favorite First Force(JPN) by Lord Kanaloa(JPN) posted a significant upset in the first turf G1 of the year. Namura Clair(JPN) by Mikki Isle(JPN) was a length back in second. Travesura(JPN) by Dream Journey(JPN) was half a length back in third.
