2022 November JRA Graded Stakes Review

In the 1400m G2 Keio Hai Nisai Stakes at Tokyo Racecourse on November 5th, tenth favorite Obamburumai(JPN) by Discreet Cat(USA) posted a major upset when he captured his first graded stakes win by a length. From Dusk(USA) by Bolt d'Oro(USA) was second, and Speed of Light(JPN) by Lord Kanaloa(JPN) was a nose back in third.

In the 1400m G3 Fantasy Stakes at Hanshin Racecourse on November 5th, another tenth favorite posted a significant upset. Rivara(JPN) by Kinshasa no Kiseki(AUS) went wire to wire to claim her first graded stakes win by a length and a quarter. Bouton d'Or(JPN) by Big Arthur(JPN) got up to finish second. Red Hill Shoes(JPN) by Heart's Cry(JPN) was another length back in third.

In the 2500m G2 Copa Republica Argentina at Tokyo Racecourse on November 6th, the sixth favorite Break Up(JPN) by Novellist(IRE) posted a mild upset to earn his first graded stakes title. Heart's Histoire(JPN) by Heart's Cry(JPN) was a length and a quarter back in second. Heat on Beat(JPN) by King Kamehameha(JPN) was a neck back in third.

In the 1800m G3 Miyako Stakes on dirt at Hanshin Racecourse on November 6th, eleventh favorite Sunrise Hope(JPN) by Majestic Warrior(USA) produced a major upset to claim his second graded stakes win. Hagino Alegrias(JPN) by Kizuna(JPN) was a head back in second. Multiple JPN1 winner Omega Perfume(JPN) by Swept Overboard(USA) overcame a poor start to finish a neck back in third.

In the 1600m G3 Musashino Stakes on dirt at Tokyo Racecourse on November 12th, second favorite Gilded Mirror(JPN) by Orfevre(JPN) nosed out favorite Lemon Pop(JPN) by Lemon Drop Kid(USA) for top honors. Bathrat Leon(JPN) by Kizuna(JPN) was half a length back in third.

In the 1600m G2 Daily Hai Nisai Stakes at Hanshin Racecourse on November 12th, third favorite All Parfait(JPN) by Real Steel(JPN) gave his sire his first graded stakes winner. Danon Touchdown(JPN) by Lord Kanaloa(JPN) was half a length back in second. Shomon(JPN) by Mind Your Biscuits(USA) was another length back in third.

In the 2200m G1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Hanshin Racecourse on November 13th, the daughter of multiple Horse of the Year Gentildonna(JPN), Geraldina(JPN) by Maurice(JPN), finally gave dam her first G1 winner by a solid length and three quarters. Win Marilyn(JPN) by Screen Hero(JPN) and Lilac(JPN) by Orfevre(JPN) dead-heated for second.

In the 2000m G3 Fukushima Kinen at Fukushima Racecourse on November 13th, the tenth favorite Unicorn Lion(IRE) by No Nay Never(USA) earned his second graded stakes title going wire to wire. Satono Cecil(GB) by Frankel(GB) was a length and three quarters back in second. Arata(JPN) by King Kamehameha(JPN) was three-quarters of a length further back in third.

In the 1800m G2 Tokyo Sports Hai Nisai Stakes at Tokyo Racecourse on November 19th, fifth favorite Gastrique(JPN) by Just a Way(JPN) posted a slight upset when he stuck his neck in front to earn his first graded stakes race. Danon the Tiger(JPN) by Heart's Cry(JPN) was second. Hearts Concerto(JPN) by Heart's Cry(JPN) was another half a length back in third.

In the 1600m G1 Mile Championship at Hanshin Racecourse on November 20th, Serifos(JPN) by Daiwa Major(JPN) came from the back of the pack to earn his first G1 title with ease. Danon the Kid(JPN) by Just a Way(JPN) was a length and a quarter back in second. All-white superstar Sodashi(JPN) by Kurofune(USA) was another half a length back in third.

In the 2000m G3 Kyoto Nisai Stakes at Hanshin Racecourse on November 26th, favorite Gruner Green(JPN) by Lovely Day(JPN) went wire to wire to earn his sire his first graded stakes win. Top Knife(JPN) by Declaration of War(USA) was a head back in second. Wurttemberg(JPN) by Kitasan Black(JPN) was a length and a quarter back in third.

In the 2400m G1 Japan Cup at Tokyo Racecourse on November 27th, third favorite Vela Azul(JPN) by Eishin Flash(JPN) weaved through the pack to earn his first G1 title for both him and his sire. Derby winner Shahryar(JPN) by Deep Impact(JPN) was three-quarters of a length back in second. Weltreisende(JPN) by Dream Journey(JPN) was another neck back in third.

In the 1200m G3 Keihan Hai at Hanshin Racecourse on November 27th, favorite Toshin Macau(JPN) by Big Arthur(JPN) ran the perfect race to claim his first graded stakes title easily. Kir Lord(JPN) by Lord Kanaloa(JPN) was a length and a quarter back in second. Smart Courage(JPN) by Deep Impact(JPN) was another length and three-quarters back in third.
