March JRA Graded Stakes Review

In the 1200m G3 Ocean Stakes at Nakayama Racecourse on March 5th, Gendarme(USA) by Kitten's Joy(USA), who had not won a graded stakes race since 2017, held on for the win. Naran Huleg(JPN) by Gold Allure(JPN) was three-quarters of a length back in second, and Bien Fait(JPN) by Kizuna(JPN) was another head back in third.

In the 1600m G2 Tulip Sho at Hanshin Racecourse on March 5th, favorite Namur(JPN) by Harbinger(GB) got up to win her first graded stakes win by a length and a half. Pin High(JPN) by Mikki Isle(JPN) was second, and Circle of Life(JPN) by Epiphaneia(JPN) was a neck back in third.

In the 2000m G2 Yayoi Sho at Nakayama Racecourse on March 6th, Ask Victor More(JPN) by Deep Impact(JPN) got his neck in front for his first graded stakes victory and earned him a berth into the G1 Japanese Derby. Two-year-old champion Do Deuce(JPN) by Heart's Cry(JPN) was second, and Born This Way(JPN) by Heart's Cry(JPN) was a neck back in third.

In the 1800m G3 Nakayama Himba Stakes at Nakayama Racecourse on March 12th, Kurino Premium(JPN) by Orfevre(JPN) captured her first graded stakes race. Ablaze(JPN) by Kizuna(JPN) was second by half a length, and Miss New York(JPN) by King's Best(JPN) was third by a neck.

In the 2000m G2 Kinko Sho at Chukyo Racecourse on March 13th, Jack d'Or(JPN) by Maurice(JPN) went wire to wire to earn his first graded stakes title. Lei Papale(JPN) by Deep Impact(JPN) was two and a half lengths in second, while Akai Ito(JPN) by Kizuna(JPN) was a length and a quarter back in third.

In the 1400m G2 Fillies Revue at Hanshin Racecourse on March 13th, Sublime Anthem(JPN) by Lord Kanaloa(JPN) posted a significant upset, earning her first graded stakes win. Namura Clair(JPN) by Mikki Isle(JPN) was a head back in second, and Anegohada(JPN) by Kizuna(JPN) was a length and three quarters back in third.

In the 1400m G3 Falcon Stakes at Chukyo Racecourse on March 19th, Purpur Ray(JPN) by Isla Bonita(JPN) earned his first graded stakes win in style. Taisei Divine(JPN) by Rulership(JPN) was a length and three quarters back in second, and Otaru Ever(JPN) by Leontes(JPN) was a half-length back in third.

In the 1800m G2 Spring Stakes at Nakayama Racecourse on March 20th, Be Astonished(JPN) by American Patriot(USA) earned his first graded stakes title. Arrival(JPN) by Harbinger(GB) was a nose back in second, and Satono Helios(JPN) by Epiphaneia(JPN) was a length and a quarter back in third.

In the 3000m Hanshin Daishoten at Hanshin Racecourse on March 20th, Deep Bond(JPN) by Kizuna(JPN) returned to his winning form. Iron Barows(JPN) by Orfevre(JPN) was three quarters back in third, and Silver Sonic(JPN) by Orfevre(JPN) was a length and a half back in third.

In the 1800m G3 Flower Cup at Nakayama Racecourse on March 21st, Stunning Rose(JPN) by King Kamehameha(JPN) earned her first graded stakes win. Nishino Love Wink(JPN) by Epiphaneia(JPN) was a half a length back in second, and Scintillation(JPN) by Lord Kanaloa(JPN) was two lengths back in third.

In the 2500m G2 Nikkei Sho at Nakayama Racecourse on March 26th, Titleholder(JPN) by Duramente(JPN) went wire to wire in returning to his winning ways. Boccherini(JPN) by King Kamehameha(JPN) was a neck back in second, and Heat on Beat(JPN) by King Kamehameha(JPN) was also a neck back in third.

In the 1800m G3 Mainichi Hai at Hanshin Racecourse on March 26th, Piece of Eight(JPN) by Screen Hero(JPN) wired the event to capture his first graded stakes. Bejart(JPN) by Maurice(JPN) was three-quarters of a length back in second, and Douradores(JPN) by Duramente(JPN) was a half-length back in third.

In the 1800m, G3 March Stakes on the dirt at Nakayama Racecourse on March 27th, Meisho Hario(JPN) by Pyro(USA) came from behind to earn his second graded stakes title. Kenshinko(JPN) by Pyro(USA) was half a length back in second, and Bullbear Iride(JPN) by Kinshasa no Kiseki(AUS) was three and a half lengths in third.

In the 1200m, G1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen at Chukyo Racecourse on March 27th, Naran Huleg(JPN) by Gold Allure(JPN) captured his first G1 title. Lotus Land(USA) by Point of Entry(USA) was a neck back in second while Kir Lord(JPN) by Lord Kanaloa(JPN) was a nose back in third.
