We at the Hokkaido Sales are always grateful for your patronage of our sales.
In consideration of the situation regarding the COVID-19 outbreak in Japan, we have made changes to our schedule of yearling sales. The Hokkaido Selection Sale will now be held one month later than scheduled, on August 24 (Mon), with the Hokkaido Summer Sale to immediately follow starting from August 25 (Tue).
To ensure that we will be able to hold our future sales without issue under these circumstances, we are now in the process of developing a new "Internet Biding System", through which buyers will be able to place bids remotely online.
Please note that we will be holding our sales in one of the two formats below. The decision on which format will be used will be made at least 45 days before each sale based on the status of the COVID-19 outbreak in Japan (including factors such as government declarations regarding the state of the outbreak and the actual state of live racing in Japan). We appreciate your understanding on this matter.
Sale Format (1) [Regular Sale (as usual)]
- Buyers will be invited to attend the sale and make bids in person at the sales venue.
Sale Format (2) [Online-only Sale]
- Buyers will place bids online remotely while viewing live footage of horses being offered in the ring. (No attendance at the sales venue.)
*Details on procedures for buyer registration and bidding will be announced later.
Once a decision has been made on the Sale Format, the information will be announced through mediums including our website.
