03 September, 2019

If people were wondering if the global turmoil was going to start affecting the Thoroughbred industry, the answer was no after another fantastic renewal of the Hokkaido Summer Sale. The four-day sale saw a 17.1% increase to the gross and the overall sale well outperformed the 2018 sale. The four-day gross was ¥4,937,652,000(US$46,581,622) with a clearance rate of 71.8%. Sale attendance was high each day with the satellite parking areas being utilized to handle overflow, proving once again that Japan has one of the strongest domestic markets in the world.

The sale topper, Hip 640 was a Rulership(JPN) colt out of the Special Week(JPN) mare Admire Kagura(JPN) was purchased by Angel Racing, Inc for ¥29,160,000(US$275,094).
