The third annual G1 Keeneland Korea Cup and G1 Keeneland Korea Sprint was held on September 9th at Seoul Racecourse in South Korea. Both races were claimed by Japanese raiders for the second year in a row and it was the third consecutive Japanese win in the 1800m Korea Cup and the second consecutive win for a Japanese horse in the 1200m Korea Sprint. In the Korea Sprint, US-bred and Japanese trained Moanin(USA), by Henny Hughes(USA) who was imported to Japan in 2014, out dueled Hong Kong raider Fight Hero(AUS) to claim his first G1 win since winning the 2016 G1 February Stakes in Japan. The best performance of the afternoon was reserved for the main event, the Korea Cup, where last year's victor London Town(JPN) broke his own track record and destroyed the rest of the field to win by 15 lengths. The five-year-old son of the late Kane Hekili(JPN) was a 2014 Hokkaido Summer Sale graduate, going for ¥9,504,000(US$85,176) to owner Toru Makiura.
